Quality

Throughout the VDL Nedcar organisation, quality is the top priority. In terms of visual quality, functional quality and safety aspects, our vehicles are subject to strict requirements.

During car production, quality is measured at various points in the production line. At the end of the line, the entire car is subjected to a 100% inspection involving an assessment of the visual quality and the rolling bench test and leak check. All our cars are also driven over our own test track.

The eventual result is a complete vehicle that is qualified to leave the factory with a green OK statement. In line with the quality requirements agreed with our customer, further quality controls are carried out by their audit department, on a random basis.

This attention to quality is also evident in our internal systems and procedures. All our processes, procedures and instructions are recorded and maintained in our Quality Management System.

As a result of our quality focus, VDL Nedcar has been awarded IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 27001 certification.

In 1997, we obtained certification for the predecessor of this standard, the ISO-9002. The current ISO-9001 certificate is a globally recognised standard with requirements in the field of quality management and therefore a benchmark for transparency and reliability in the market. Quality management is reflected in all parts of our organisation and ensures that our products meet the needs, demands, wishes and specifications of our customers, as well as other stakeholders.

Since 2018, we have been certified according to this automotive quality standard.

The IATF 16949 standard is an ISO technical specification that corresponds to existing American, German, French and Italian standards for automotive quality systems in the global automotive industry. The standard was published in October 2016 and replaces the ISO/TS 16949 standard. The standard describes the quality system requirements for the design, development, production, installation and maintenance of automotive-related products. This standard brings quality and continuous improvement to the core of our organisation. It also reduces risks and waste by applying "risk-based" thinking. The IATF 16949 is the highest achievable standard within the automotive industry.

By preventing work-related injuries and health problems and by proactively improving G&VW performance, we create safe and healthy workplaces. It is important that hazards are eliminated and G&VW risks are minimised. With this certificate we demonstrate that our organisation consciously works in a healthy and safe manner and complies with laws and regulations for health and safety conditions.

Since 1999 we are certified according to this environmental standard. This standard prescribes how a company should deal with environmental issues, such as energy consumption and waste flows to contribute to sustainable development. The ISO-14001 describes the key elements for setting up, implementing, maintaining and improving an environmental care system, including the recording of environmental aspects and effects.

Benefits: saving energy, raw materials and materials and complying with laws and regulations.

VDL Nedcar has been AEO certified since 2011. Through this certification we as an organisation demonstrate that we are part of a secure logistics chain. It offers major advantages, such as: fewer customs inspections, priority in customs inspections and the possibility of carrying out some customs activities ourselves. Ultimately, this ensures simpler and quicker handling of customs activities; essential for many transports from outside the EU.
